What to Do with a Leaking Water Heater
The water heater in your home is a very important piece of equipment that is necessary in order to heat water for a variety of different things. For example, you would not be able to take a nice warm and relaxing bath or shower if the water heater in your home was not functioning correctly.
Hot water is not only needed in order to bathe, it is also needed if you want to be able to wash your dishes as well. However, this amazing piece of equipment can start malfunctioning for a variety of different reasons. One of these reasons is a leaking pipe on your water heater.
What Causes a Leaking Pipe on my Water Heater?
A leaking pipe can be caused for a variety of different reasons. For one, the fittings on the pipes may just need to be tightened. If this is the case, then it is not a big deal and is usually and easy fix. However, the pipes can also start leaking if the pipes are corroded.
This can be a more serious problem that may not be able to be fixed as easily as loose pipes. Corroded pipes will typically have to be replaced with new pipes in order to fix the problem. The tank itself could have also started to rust at the connection of the pipe, which can cause the pip to start leaking as well.
Can a Leaking Pipe be Fixed?
A leaking pipe can be fixed under certain circumstances. For example, as mentioned earlier, a loose pipe is as simple as just a little tightening. However, in the case of a corroded pipe, the pipes will have to be replaced by a plumber in order for the leak to be fixed.
If the tank is rusted at the connection, then the tank itself may have to be replaced as well. This is something that should be determined by a professional plumber. If you run into any of these issues, then you should contact a professional plumber in order to help fix the problem.
